Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) program is an intensive learning approach designed to enhance thinking and learning skills.
This program is based on the concepts developed by Prof. Reuven Feuerstein. The fundamental belief behind this program is that intelligence is flexible and dynamic, not fixed.
One of the most significant advantages of this program is its flexibility. For individuals with special needs, FIE is used as a remediation program; for higher functioning learners, FIE is an enrichment tool which helps the higher functioning learners to further magnify their existing abilities. It can be used with individuals as well as in groups. FIE can be used with students within the classroom and with diverse populations.
FIE seeks to correct the deficiencies in fundamental thinking skills, provides students with the concepts, skills, strategies, operations and techniques necessary to function as independent learners, increase their motivation, develop meta-cognition – in short, to “learn how to learn.” It helps one learn not only from formal school-like setups but also from informal learning situations.
This program is recommended for –
- Student’s transitioning from middle school to high school or high school to college.
- Those who want to positively impact college placement and achievement tests.
- Students who face challenges with dyslexia, focusing, impulsivity, test anxiety, ADD or ADHD, math or reading.
